The Morecambe Good News Van was established in November 2004 by the Good News Trust Christian Library Service.
We are unpaid volunteers (the Van Team) who operate a visiting Christian library service from a small van. We attend, by prior invitation and arrangement, meetings hosted by Christian people in our local area.

The present Van Team:-
Christine & David, Sheila, Marilyn & Peter, Alice, Bill & Karen, Mollie & Keith.
Invitations come from churches (of any denomination), small groups, or individuals who wish to borrow our extensive stock of Christian literature. We cater for all age groups.
Our Van was chosen for its economy and versatility. It has a lifting rear tailgate, giving shelter on wet days. In addition to the driver and passenger doors, there are two sliding doors giving easy access to the load - a great help when unloading boxes. We carry a stock of about 1,000 items on the Van, the remainder of about 800 items being either out on loan or held in reserve.
Van visits are normally made by a team of two Members (or occasionally, a Member and a Helper). Venues are so enjoyable that other Team Members and friends often use their own transport to attend in support. The Team is drawn from various denominations, but has a common link of friendship going back some years before the Van was launched. People who are not available on a regular basis can be appointed as Helpers to the Team.
We have found the most common way of recruiting for the Team is when regular borrowers feel led to become more actively involved and ask if they can take part in our ministry. Involvement can mean undertaking no more than one visit per month - every little helps!
